Obituaries

Claire Sternick

Claire Sternick of Phoenix died June 6, 2004. She was 72. She was born in Boston and moved to Arizona from Massachusetts in 1979.

Survivors include her husband, Dave; son, Michael Rosenberg of Hoboken, N.J.; and one grandchild.

Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Anne Tenenbaum

Anne Tenenbaum of Phoenix died June 8, 2004. She was 87. She was born in Quincy, Mass., and moved to Arizona from Massachusetts in 1979. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Hammerschlag of Paradise Valley, and Felicia Hanig of Olympia, Wash.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery, with Rabbi Arthur Lavinsky officiating. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.



Karen M. Tarr

Karen M. Tarr, age 54, passed away June 5, 2004 in Mesa. She moved to the Valley 23 years ago from her native New York. Survivors include her brother Richard Levine and father Samuel Levine.

Karen was an attorney and a mediator, a graduate of City College of New York and ASU Law School. She served as a trial attorney and an administrative law judge for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Phoenix. After retiring, she trained and served as a mediator.

Karen was a member of Chabad of the East Valley and had served as President of the Board of Ruach Hamidbar - Spirit of the Desert.

Funeral services and interment will be held in New York. Contributions in her memory are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014; or Chabad of the East Valley, 3855 W. Ray Rd. #6, Chandler, AZ 85226. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
