Obituaries

Samuel H. Cohen

Samuel H. Cohen of Surprise died March 21, 2004. He was 89. He was born in Savannah, Ga., and moved to Arizona from Maryland in 1982. He was a retired pharmacist. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; daughters, Lisa Jacobs of Baltimore, and Susan Pessah of Smithtown, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.

Services were held at Sunland Memorial Park, with Rabbi Arthur J. Abrams officiating. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Alex Schwartz

Alex Schwartz of Sun City died March 21, 2004. He was 92. He was born in New York and moved to Arizona from New York in 1977. He was a retired life insurance agent. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was an original member and past president of Beth Emeth Congregation.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; daughters, Marilyn Oxenberg of Irvington, N.Y., Toni Ann Schoen of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., and Sandra Jacobs of Poway, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, N.Y. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.
