Andrew Cohen, son of Jacqueline and David Cohen of Phoenix, will become a bar mitzvah March 20, 2004, at Temple Emanuel.

Grandparents are Marcia and Herbert Lang of Scottsdale; the late Muriel Lang; and the late Sadie and Edgar Cohen.

Andrew attends Akimel a-Al Middle School. His hobbies are sports, music, dogs, movies and the Internet.

For his mitzvah project, Andrew is collecting new and gently used sports equipment to be donated to various charities.



Julie Erin Farber, daughter of Susan and Steven Farber of Paradise Valley, will become a bat mitzvah March 20, 2004, at Har Zion Congregation.

Grandparents are Evelyn and Jack Solway of Skokie, Ill.; and the late Bernice and Bernard Faber.

Julie attends Cocopah Middle School. Her hobbies are piano, tennis and chatting online.

For her mitzvah project, Julie cut her hair and donated it to Locks for Love, a nonprofit organization that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair.



Ryann Elyssa Miller, daughter of Karen and Steven Miller of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah March 20, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Dolores and Jay Lustig; and Joan and Seymour Miller, all of Scottsdale.

Ryann attends Mountainside Middle School. Her hobbies are dance and theater.

For her mitzvah project, Ryann volunteered for the Council for Jews with Special Needs at Temple Chai, boxed food at a food bank and volunteered at a Special Olympics event at Rawhide in Scottsdale.



Matthew Adam Justice, son of Patricia and Gary Justice of Scottsdale, will become a bar mitzvah March 20, 2004, at Temple Kol Ami.

Grandparents are Edith and Mickey Frank of Delray Beach, Fla; and the late Estelle and Marvin Sultan.

Matthew attends Mountainside Middle School. His hobbies are theater, computers and television production.



Michael Ian Kogan, son of Pam and Jay Kogan of Scottsdale, will become a bar mitzvah March 20, 2004, at Temple Beth Israel.

Grandparents are Miriam Savitt of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; Gene Savitt of Scottsdale; Evelyn Kogan of Scotts-dale; and the late Ben Kogan.

Michael attends Desert Shadows Middle School.



Sarah Michelle Hansen, daughter of Gail Schoenwald Hansen and Douglas Hansen of Anthem, will become a bat mitzvah March 20, 2004, at Ruach Hamidbar - Spirit of the Desert.

Grandparents are Sharon and Melvin Schoenwald of Las Vegas; Carol and David Rueber of Kanawha, Iowa; and Vern and Marcia Hansen of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Great-grandparent is Lottie Herzberg of Las Vegas.

Sarah attends Arizona School for the Arts. Her hobbies are violin, piano, music and reading.

For her mitzvah project, Sarah completed a 13 mitzvot project that included gemilut chassidim (community service/tzedakah), avodah (religious observance) and Torah study. Her main project was coordinating the adoption of a blind family for her Girl Scout neighborhood through Foundation for Blind Children.



Eric James Dachman, son of Marla and William Dachman of Scottsdale, will become a bar mitzvah March 20, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Rita and Lew Greenwood of Cathedral City, Calif.; Marilyn Dach-man of Phoenix; and the late Jack Dachman.

Eric attends Sunrise Middle School. His hobbies are baseball, cartooning and saxophone.

For his mitzvah project, Eric organized a book drive for children at Maricopa Medical Center, helped the Fairy Godmothers (an organization that collects and distributes prom dresses to teenagers from low-income families), volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and tutored first-graders.



Bari Danielle Sprecher, daughter of Jackie and Warren Sprecher of Chandler, will become a bat mitzvah March 20, 2004 at Temple Beth Sholom.

Grandparents are Muriel and George Arzt of Sun Lakes; and Bernice Cohen of Henderson, Nev.

Bari attends Santan K-8 School. Her hobbies are karate and reading.

For her mitzvah project, Bari helped organized the temple library and visited nursing homes and health care facilities.



Jared Michael Schenkman, son of Amy and Stuart Schenkman of Cave Creek, will become a bar mitzvah March 20, 2004, at Temple Beth Israel.

Grandparents are Sylvia Dultz of Woodmere, N.Y.; the late Alan Dultz; and the late Gertrude and William Schenkman.

Jared attends Sonoran Trails Middle School. His hobbies are baseball, basketball and tennis.



Heidi Rose Neumann, daughter of Andrea and Mark Neumann of Scotts-dale, will become a bat mitzvah March 20, 2004, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Millie and Mac Bycer of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and Hildegard and Norbert Neumann of Homer, Ak.

Heidi attends Sunrise Middle School. Her hobbies are writing stories, drawing, caring for animals and outdoor activities.

For her mitzvah project, Heidi volunteered for a cat adoption program, assisted at Brownie Girl Scout meetings and entertained children at a homeless shelter.
