People on the moveElaine Maimon, Arizona State University West provost and university vice president, will become ASU's first distinguished foundation professor of writing across the curriculum, a field in which she is a founder and national leader. After completing her work as provost and vice president on June 30, she will take a year sabbatical before returning to ASU to head the writing across the curriculum program.Ruth Graham Kern and Sharon J. Oscar have joined the law firm Fennemore Craig as of counsel attorneys in the firm's real estate practice. Temple Beth Sholom has hired Janette Silverman as director of education. Silverman has a bachelor's degree in sociology and anthropology from Valdosta State University in Georgia; a master's in public administration from Florida State University; and a master's in Jewish studies from Spertus College in Chicago, where she is currently pursuing a doctorate in Jewish studies. Silverman has 15 years experience teaching middle school students at congregations in Florida, New York and New Jersey; and 12 years experience as education director at congregations in New Jersey, Florida and North Carolina. At Temple Havurat Emet's annual meeting, three new board members were elected: Mel Moss, president; Irwin Plafker, vice president of religious services; and Richard Askinazi, three-year director. Ethan Schwartz has joined Gold Mortgage Center to manage the private money lending division, specializing in asset-based lending, including commercial loans, construction financing, land-lot loans, hard to place residential loans, interim financing, interest only loans, private placement, commercial construction and take-out loans.
