Obituaries

Hanna W. Elias

Hanna W. Elias of Phoenix died Feb. 15, 2004. She was 90. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Arizona from New York in 1956. She was a retired social worker.

Survivors include her husband, Jack.

Services were held at Green Acres Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Morris Adler

Morris Adler of Phoenix died March 1, 2004. He was 70. He was born in Philadelphia and moved to Arizona from New York in 1968. He was a mailer at the Arizona Republic. He was a member of the Chabad Lubavitch Center of Phoenix.

Survivors include his son, Fred Paul of Lakeworth, Fla.; sister, Marilyn Kutner of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.

Services were held in Philadelphia. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.

Selma Belle Smith

Selma Belle Smith, age 86, passed away February 26, 2004 at home in Phoenix. She was born in Pittsburgh and has been a Phoenix resident for the past 58 years. Survivors include her sons Robert (Joan) Smith and Dennis (Lisetta) Smith; daughter Bonnie (Lloyd) Smigel; grandchildren Lisa (Bret) Burke, Eric Smigel, Tami (Cal) Calvin and Sheri Smith; and great-grandchildren Brandon and Kyle Burke and Joshua and Reece Calvin. She was preceded in death by her late husband Irving "Sooney" Smith.

Graveside funeral services were held February 29th at Beth El Cemetery in Phoenix. Contributions in her memory are suggested to Beth El Congregation, 1118 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021; or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
