ObituariesSybil KershSybil Kersh of Scottsdale died Nov. 16, 2003. She was 75. She was born in Scotland and moved to Arizona in 1993 from California. She was in banking for 26 years. She was a member of Har Zion Congregation and Har Zion Sisterhood.Survivors include her husband, Alex; daughter, Sharon Karpen of Scottsdale; son, Warren of Cooper City, Calif.; sisters, Faye Lemer and Gladys Light, both of Scottsdale, and Mickie Karasick and Blanche Zadanoff, both of Laguna, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Green Acres Cemetery, with Rabbi Mark Bisman officiating. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Har Zion Congregation, 6140 E. Thunderbird Road, Scottsdale 85254. Dorothy Lehrman RemanDorothy Lehrman Reman of Mesa died Nov. 2, 2003. She was 76. She was born in Detroit and moved to Arizona in the early 1970s. She was a homemaker.Survivors include her sons, Bob of Phoenix, Jim of Paonia, Colo., and David and Tony, both of Tucson; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Grant Road, Tucson 85712. Gertrude SchenkmanGertrude Schenkman of Scottsdale died Nov. 17, 2003. She was 87. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Arizona in 1997. She was a bookkeeper for the state of New York.Survivors include her sons, Martin of Springhill, Fla., Art of Scottsdale and Stuart of Cave Creek; daughters, Sallie Maggio of Paradise, Calif., Anne Darvin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Pearl Wachter of Scottsdale; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens, with Rabbi Stephen Kahn officiating. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014. Rhoda Ellis KorrRhoda Ellis Korr of Sun City West died Nov. 14, 2003. She was 88. She was born in New York City and moved to Arizona in 1972. She was a retired college professor. She was a member of the Sun City chapter of Women's American ORT and Hadassah, and she served on the board of directors at Beth Emeth Congregation in Sun City West. She received the Woman of the Year award in 1986 from the Sun City division of Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix.Survivors include her daughter, Joan Shrednick of Massapequa, N.Y.; sister, Natalie Friedman of New York City; and one grandchild. Services were held at Sunland Memorial Park with Rabbi Leo Abrami officiating. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Beth Emeth Congregation, 13702 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West 85375. Albert SteinAlbert Stein of Phoenix died Nov. 11, 2003. He was 89. He was born in New York City and moved to Arizona in 2001 from Del Ray, Fla. He was a dress manufacturer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.Survivors include his wife, Minna; daughter, Anita Rabenowitz of Scottsdale; son, Bernard of Piedmont, Calif.; brothers, Milton of Tampa, Fla., and Julius of Albany, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. Edwards of Scottsdale died Oct. 29, 2003. He was 80. He was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona from Milwaukee. He was a graduate engineer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.Survivors include his wife, Gloria; daughters, Lisa Harris and Lynne Garon; son, William; and six grandchildren. Services were held at Green Acres Cemetery with Rabbi William Berk officiating. Arrangements were made by Green Acres Mortuary. Irving GoldsteinIrving Goldstein, age 82, Holocaust survivor, passed away Monday, November 17, 2003. Born in Poland, he immigrated to the United States in 1946 where he met his wife of 52 years, Muriel Feller. In 1958, Irving, his wife, and their eldest son Glenn moved from Brooklyn, N.Y. to Phoenix. He founded and grew a successful meat processing business in Arizona and raised three sons here.Irving is survived by his wife Muriel, sons Glenn (Donne), Paul (Sandi) and Brian (Leela), and grandchildren Jared, Ryan, Olivia and Malia. He was loved and will be missed by all. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at Sinai Mortuary with burial following at Beth El Cemetery.
