Letters to the EditorOctober 24, 2003
Editorial did not go far enoughEditor:I agree with the heart of your recent editorial, "What would we do?" (Jewish News, Oct. 10) that Israel has a right to defend itself. That should be a no-brainer. No other nation is expected to sit by and allow terrorists free access to brutally murder innocent children and elderly people. But I disagree with your statement that "by ordering an air strike on Ein Saheb, an empty Palestinian terrorist camp, 12 miles northwest of Damascus, Sharon backed up his words with actions." How is bombing a shell of a camp in Syria a courageous show of action? Real courage would be to go after Yasser Arafat and the terrorists in Israel, where the murder and maiming freely take place. Every time Israel is forced to sit back and quietly absorb the loss of another innocent life, Arafat is only encouraged to order more bombings, more destruction, more death. Karen Bare Phoenix
