B'nai Mitzvah

Michael Jeremy Sugar, son of Sheri and Howard Sugar of Scottsdale, will become a bar mitzvah Sept. 20, 2003, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Florence and Gerald Sutker of Chicago; and Jeanette and Marshall Sugar of Highland Park, Ill.

Michael attends Mountain Trail Middle School. His hobbies include sports and music.

For his mitzvah project, Michael volunteered at the Kaiser Family Crisis Center for homeless families. He also participated in the "Stuff the Bus" project to provide needy children with school supplies.



Samantha Rachel Hoffer, daughter of Rosalie and Henry Hoffer of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah Sept. 20, 2003, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Tova and Max Hoffer of Silver Spring, Md.; and the late Sally and Sam Flash.

Samantha attends Copper Ridge Middle School. Her hobbies include volleyball, softball, figure skating, art and flute.

For her mitzvah project, Samantha volunteered at Watkins Overflow Shelter and worked with the Council for Jews with Special Needs.



Jennifer Alexis Gertell, daughter of Jodi and Michael Gertell of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah Sept. 20, 2003, at Temple Beth Israel.

Grandparents are Evelyn and Sol Shafner of Denver; Anita Gertel of Phoenix; and the late Albert Gertel.



Alex Feldman, son of Judith Shappee and William Feldman of Gold Canyon, will become a bar mitzvah Sept. 20, 2003, at Temple Emanuel.

Grandparents are Blanche and Bernard Feldman of Albuquerque, N.M.; and Joan Smith of Earp, Calif.

Alex attends Brimhall Junior High School.
