Lance Arnold Doughman, son of Joanne Spiess of Phoenix and Jon Doughman of Kansas City, Mo., will become a bar mitzvah Sept. 6, 2003, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Judith Spiess of Yonkers, N.Y.; Miriam Neal of Crown City, Ohio; the late Willy Spiess; and the late Charles Doughman.

Great-grandparents are the late Libby and Joseph Eisenstein.

Lance attends Madison Meadows Middle School. His hobbies include Boy Scouts, reading and sports.

For his mitzvah project, Lance volunteered at the Make-A-Wish Foundation.



Erich Ryan Hechtman, son of Diane Minkner of Paradise Valley and Mary and Mark Hechtman of Scottsdale, will become a bar mitzvah Sept. 6, 2003, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Diane and Dan Hechtman and Pat and Mike Kreta, all of Scottsdale.

Erich attends Desert Shadows Middle School. His hobbies include computers, skateboarding and snowboarding.

For his mitzvah project, Erich collected children's clothing for the Thomas J. Pappas School.



Ma'ayan Maoz, daughter of Ivette and Netzer Maoz of Chandler, will become a bat mitzvah Sept. 6, 2003, at Temple Emanuel.

Grandparents are Annelie and Martin Nossbaum of Jenkintown, Pa.; and Batya and Eli Maoz of Motza Ilit, Israel.

Ma'ayan attends Aprende Middle School. Her hobbies include travel, music, volunteering, reading and spending time with friends.

For her mitzvah project, Ma'ayan volunteered at the Friends-4-Life animal shelter.



Zachary Aron Fox, son of Cindy Fox and Paul Fox, both of Scottsdale, will become a bar mitzvah Sept. 6, 2003, at Temple Solel.

Grandparents are Vardith Fox of Grand Junction, Colo.; Dan Fox of Pomona, Calif.; and the late Florence and Joseph Soule.

Zachary attends Pardes Jewish Day School. His hobbies include skateboarding and soccer.

For his mitzvah project, Zachary found homes for unwanted cats.



Isabel Hirsch Roos, daughter of Cindy Hirsch and Robert Roos of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah Sept. 6, 2003, at Beth El Congregation.

Grandparents are Fay and Nestor Roos of Tucson; and the late Gloria and Bob Hirsch.

Isabel attends REACH Center at Madison Park. Her hobbies include softball and attending Camp Ramah Darom.

For her mitzvah project, Isabel volunteered at Hebrew school.



Aaron Robert Schottenstein, son of Karen Schottenstein and John Schottenstein, both of Paradise Valley, will become a bar mitzvah Sept. 6, 2003, at Temple Beth Israel.

Grandparents are Eileen Stevens of Scottsdale; the late Robert Slotnick; and the late Alvia and Alvin Schottenstein.
