The Israel Scouts Friendship Caravan returned to the Valley this summer - for an extended visit.

The group of 12 teenagers, ages 16 and 17, usually visit Phoenix for five days, but this year they were able to perform locally for 10 days.

"Due to the generosity of community members, this year we were able to increase the Scouts visit ... and use the additional time to introduce the non-Jewish community to the Scouts experience," says Eitan Ben-Ami, director of the Israel Center of the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix.

The group sang and danced through nearly two dozen performances at Jewish camps, synagogues and Jewish Community Centers, and at several non-Jewish venues including a Girl Scout camp, a Boy Scout camp, St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Phoenix Children's Hospital, Scottsdale City Hall and Phoenix City Hall.

Approximately 4,000 community members attended the performances.
