Emanuel leader moves on

Evan DuBro, who has served as administrator of Temple Emanuel of Tempe for six years, will leave the congregation July 31 to start a position as executive director at Congregation Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park, Pa.

"We will miss Evan tremendously," said Ron Kossack, temple president. "He's been a wonderful asset to Temple Emanuel.

"He's strengthened our congregation and has placed us on sound financial footing and also has helped to increase the membership."

DuBro's other local community involvement included serving as president elect of Tempe Rotary, a member of the Tempe Leadership program and president of the Tempe Emergency Action Ministry.

"I think it's going to be a huge loss to us as a congregation," said Rabbi Andrew Straus. "He's become an integral part of the community and the congregation, but it's a great honor for him that he was recruited by this congregation and it says a great deal about him as a professional in the community."

After an extensive national search, Nanci Wilharber, formerly the program associate at the Hillel Jewish Student Center at Arizona State University, was selected as Emanuel's new administrator, Kossack said. She began training July 14.

"I have enjoyed my time with Temple Emanuel and appreciate all the wonderful experiences we have shared," DuBro said.
