Obituaries

Sandra Cohen

Sandra Cohen of Surprise died July 1, 2003. She was 62. She was born in New York City and moved to Arizona in 1974. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Beth Hebrew Congregation and an active volunteer for the Lupus Foundation.

Survivors include her husband, Warren of Surprise; daughters, Jill Banta of Scottsdale and Eileen Maddix of Phoenix; mother, Ethel Kobelinsky; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at Phoenix Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Lupus Foundation of America, 12630 N. 21st Ave., Phoenix 85029.



Estelle Esther Cooper

Estelle Esther Cooper of Phoenix died July 6, 2003. She was 81. She was born in Cleveland and moved to Arizona in 1960. She was a waitress at Katz's Deli in Phoenix.

Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Regan of Phoenix and Inez Adragna of Kingman; sons, Dan Cooper of Gilbert and Stuart Cooper of Boise, Idaho; and 10 grandchildren.

Services were held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th St., Tempe 85282 or Veterans Administration, 3225 N. Central Ave., Phoenix 85012.



Arthur Winer

Arthur Winer of Phoenix died June 18, 2003. He was 88. He was born in Pittsburgh and moved to Arizona in 1970. He was retired from the automobile salvage business. He was a member of Beth El Congregation and B'nai B'rith.

Survivors include his wife, Sally of Los Angeles; daughter, Nanette Cutler of Los Angeles; son, Steve Winer of Akron, Ohio; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held in Akron, Ohio. Arrangements were made by Gordon Mortuary in Ohio. Contributions are suggested to the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging, 7150 Tampa Ave., Reseda, CA 91335.



Lois Feldman Tuchler

Lois Feldman Tuchler died June 29, 2003, in Albuquerque, N.M. She was 83. She was born in San Francisco and lived in Arizona. She had a long career in social work and served as the executive director of Jewish Family & Children's Service from 1964-1986. Upon retirement she moved to Sedona. Tuchler was known for taking in needy people and animals to lend a helping hand. She later relocated to Albuquerque, N.M.

Survivors include her son, Robin Tuchler of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers, Jesse Feldman and Sanford Feldman; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Private services were held. Arrangements were made by Sunrise Funeral Options in Albuquerque. Contributions are suggested to Jewish Family & Children's Service, 4220 N. 20th Ave., Phoenix 85015.



Marie L. Shultz

Marie L. Shultz of Phoenix died July 7, 2003. She was 81. She was born in Altoona, Pa., and moved to Arizona in 1953 from Ohio. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of Temple Beth Israel.

Survivors include her sons, Martin Shultz and Mel Shultz, both of Phoenix; sister, Shirley Zirkin of Detroit; brother, Hershel Solomon of San Francisco; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Herman Busch

Herman Busch of Scottsdale died July 6, 2003. He was 85. He was born in Union City, N.J., and moved to Arizona in 1988 from Pittsburgh. He was a retired supervisor in apparel and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Hannah of Scottsdale; daughter, Iris Feldman of Scottsdale; son, Arthur Busch of Acton, Calif.; brother, Arnold Busch of California; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
