Thomas N. Turk, English and humanities instructor and advanced placement and gifted program director at Jess Schwartz Jewish Community High School, has received a Distinguished Educators Award from the Flinn Foundation.

The Brandeis National Women's Committee recently elected its 2003-2004 board members. Members include Marjorie Bold, membership co-vice president; Irene Lubin, book fund vice president; Selma Ost, study group vice president; Naomi Schwartz and Florence Colby, Valley West vice presidents; Eilene Raiden and Reva Rudley, Scottsdale North vice presidents; and Linda Rogers, chapter study group treasurer.

Yael Feldman, a professor of Hebrew culture at New York University, received the Avraham Friedman Memorial Prize in Hebrew literature from Histadrut Ivrit of America.

Sam Post of Revere Financial Services has received a certified long-term care designation from the Corporation for Long Term Care Certification.

The Phoenix Squaw Peak Rotary Club and the Mental Health Guild of Arizona have donated funds to The Children's Center for Neurodevelopmental Studies to support programs for autistic children.

Larry Seay, chief financial officer and vice president of finance at Meritage Corporation, has received the 2003 Distinguished Achievement Award from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

Michele Monti, founder of Leonardo's, a local marble and granite design company in Tempe, has been named "businesswoman of the year" by the National Republican Congressional Committee. She was honored at the organization's annual Presi-dent's Dinner in Washington, D.C., on May 21-22.

Lawrence Sher has been named assistant general manager of Jared the Galleria of Jewelry at Scottsdale and Camelback roads.
