People on the moveThe Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation Sisterhood has installed its new officers board for 2003-2004. Officers are Shelly Henden and Lana Oyer, co-presidents; Roberta Sigel, Grace Roth and Doris Codkind, program vice presidents; Gert Seidel, treasurer; Bernice Richmond, recording secretary; and Marj Weiss, corresponding secretary.Howard Paley, a board member at the Tri-City Jewish Community Center in Tempe, will become principal at Edison Elementary School in Mesa. The YWCA of Maricopa County has elected new members to its board of directors. Members include Frances Ackley, Regina Edwards, Eleanor Eisenberg, Karen Fletcher, Kelly Lovell, Melissa McDonald, Susan Navran and Katherine Ryan. The Berk family, including Joyce, Kent, Kevin, Kregg, Angie and Annette, will open AZ On The Rocks - Indoor Climbing, Inc., in North Scottsdale this fall. The 14,000-square-foot rock climbing facility will include more than 40 top ropes, lead climbing, a free climb area, an observation deck and two private rooms for special events. The Arizona State University College of Architecture and Environmental Design has selected Joseph Schwartz, Morris Stein and Meredith Banasiak to receive its 2003 Convocation Awards. Schwartz will receive the Distinguished Achievement Award in recognition of design excellence. Stein will receive the Alumni Achievement Award in recognition of his professional achievements in the field of healthcare architecture. Banasiak will receive the Outstanding Graduate Award for her student record and volunteer efforts.
