Sun City rabbi announces retirement

Rabbi Arthur Abrams of Temple Beth Shalom in Sun City announced his retirement at the synagogue's annual meeting on April 9. He will continue to serve as the congregation's rabbi until his contract ends July 31, 2004.

Abrams started with the congregation in 1997. He and his wife Claire plan to remain in Sun City. "We've made many, many good friends and we'll plan on continuing our friendships and remaining in the community," he said.

Plans are underway for a search committee, said Sonia Karp, temple president. "We regret seeing him retire from the Beth Shalom pulpit but are pleased that he plans to remain in the community," Karp wrote in the temple's May bulletin.
