Obituaries

Robin Esther Potts

Robin Esther Potts of Phoenix died April 13, 2003. She was 43. She was born in Philadelphia and moved to Arizona in 1982. She was a public school administrative assistant.

Survivors include her husband, William; daughter, Alysha Potts of Phoenix; son, Adam Potts of Phoenix; mother, Betty Inverso of Phoenix; sister, Ann Edelstein of Scottsdale; and brother, Jay Inverso of Phoenix.

Services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.



Milton Shopnick

Milton Shopnick of Peoria died April 10, 2003. He was 81. He was born in New York City and moved to Arizona from Michigan in 1993. He was a retired instrument maker at Wayne State University in Detroit and was an Army signal corporal during World War II. He was a member of the Sun City Concert Band, a lifetime member of the Horologic Society and a member of Beth Emeth Congregation.

Survivors include his daughters, Faye Ghormley of Peoria and Rinah Wechsler of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Services were held at Sunland Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to a local charity.



Carl F. Strauss Jr.

Carl F. Strauss Jr. of Kansas City, Mo., died April 14, 2003. He was 71. He was born in Tupelo, Miss. He was a physician specializing in internal medicine. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserves and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was a fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of Temple B'nai Jehudah in Kansas City and was a former president of the Greater Kansas City Society of Internists.

Survivors include his wife, Dee Dee; daughters, Jennifer Kaufman of Scottsdale, Cheryl Friedman of Scranton, Pa., and Wendy David of Overland Park, Kan.; son, Kip Strauss of Overland Park, Kan.; and eight grandchildren.

Services were held in Kansas City. Arrangements were made by Louis Memorial Chapel in Kansas City.

Carolyn G. Nathan

Carolyn G. Nathan, 79, passed away April 8, 2003 in Phoenix. She was born in Chicago and moved to Phoenix 41 years ago from Houston. Carolyn served on the Board of Directors of the Phoenix Jewish Free Loan Association, she was a Real Estate Agent and active in organizations in the support of Israel.

Survivors include her husband Dr. M. Herbert Nathan; sons, Dr. Stephen (Marti) Nathan, William Nathan and James Binyamin (Sara) Nathan; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her special friend Mischa.

Funeral services were held April 10, 2003 in Sinai Mortuary Chapel. Contributions in her memory are suggested to Phoenix Jewish Free Loan Association, 400 W. Faye Wallerstein

Faye Wallerstein, 88, passed away April 10, 2003 in Phoenix. She was born in Russia and moved to the Valley 28 years ago from Chicago.

Survivors include her daughter Adrien Herzberg, sons Cary and Steven Wallerstein, sister Marilyn Grow, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were held April 13, 2003 at Beth El Cemetery in Phoenix. Contributions in her memory are requested to Jewish Family and Children's Service Geriatric Program, 2033 N. 7th St., Phoenix, AZ 85006. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
