Jesse Rose Mapstead, daughter of Jill and Jim Mapstead of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah April 19, 2003, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Sheila and Leonard Brinauer and Rosemary and Art Mapstead, all of Phoenix.

Great-grandparents are the late Edna and Joseph Winer; and the late Helen and James Brinauer.

Jesse attends Greenway Middle School. Her hobbies include drama, volleyball and music.



Samantha Leigh Weil, daughter of Marcie and John Weil of Scottsdale, will become a bat mitzvah April 19, 2003, at Temple Chai.

Grandparents are Carlyne and Leslie Weil of Vernon Hills, Ill.; Hannah Bornfriend of Camarillo, Calif.; and the late Arthur Bornfriend.

Samantha attends Mountainside Middle School. Her hobbies include soccer, softball, music, waterskiing and spending time with friends.

For her mitzvah project, Samantha prepared food at the Watkins Overflow Shelter.
