New exhibit at Sylvia Plotkin museum

The Sylvia Plotkin Judaica Museum at Temple Beth Israel, 10460 N. 56th St., Scottsdale, will present "Ruth Weisberg: the Open Door Haggadah" beginning April 27.

The exhibit features drawings from the Reform Movement's new haggadah by artist Ruth Weisberg. She depicts figurative, humanist works that, as she says, "extend an invitation to enter in and to re-enact our story and deepen the experience of seeing ourselves as if we also came out of Egypt."

An opening reception will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 27, where Weisberg will speak. Call 480-951-0323.

Jewish comic headlines at Improv

Comedian Robert Schimmel will headline April 4-6 at The Tempe Improv, 930 E. University Drive. Schimmel's comedy is intimate and anatomically, if not politically, correct. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday & Sunday, and 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Tickets are $18 Thursday and Sunday; $20 Friday and Saturday.

Call 480-921-9877.
