Obituaries

Scott Adam Fox

Scott Adam Fox of Phoenix died March 5, 2003. He was 35. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to Arizona in 1972.

He was a member of the National Philatelic Society.

Survivors include his sister, Cathy Fox Wrinzer of Phoenix; and brother, Thomas Fox of Scottsdale.

Services were held at Green Acres Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to the National Hydrocephalus Association, 870 Market St., Suite #705, San Francisco, CA 94102.



Edith Kaplan

Edith Kaplan of Chicago died Jan. 28, 2003. She was 88. She was born in Chicago and is a former resident of Scottsdale. She was a philanthropist in several Jewish organizations.

Survivors include her sons, Jerrold Kaplan of Hillsborough, Calif., Burton Kaplan of Highland Park, Ill., and Ronald Kaplan of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; sister, Anne Schubert; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Temple Chai in Long Grove, Ill. Arrangements were made by Goldman Funeral Group. Contributions are suggested to Hadassah, 111 N. Wabash St., Suite 810, Chicago, IL 60602.



Victor B. Friedman

Victor B. Friedman of Phoenix died March 4, 2003. He was 91. He was born in New York City and moved to Arizona in 1960 from Bellville, Ill.

He was an electrical contractor and real estate developer.

Survivors include his daughter, Joann Friedman-Burgess of Phoenix; son, Dennis Friedman of Phoenix; sister, Libby Friedman of Scottsdale; and companion, Bee Turken of Phoenix.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary.



Dorothy Y. Goldstein

Dorothy Y. Goldstein of Phoenix died March 10, 2003. She was 89. She was born in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to Arizona in 1978. She was employed by the Food and Drug Administration and was a past member of Beth El Sisterhood.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Goldstein of Phoenix; sons, Robert Mankin of Manhattan, N.Y., and Lawrence Mankin of Gilbert; stepsons, Paul Goldstein and Frank Goldstein, both of Long Island, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, 1232 22nd St. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20037.



Harriet S. Singer

Harriet S. Singer, age 79, passed away March 11, 2003 in Phoenix. She was born in New York and moved to the Valley six years ago from Massachusetts. Harriet served in the U.S. Army as a nurse during World War II. She was preceded in death by her late husband Harry.

Survivors include her daughter Merri (Roy) White, son Dr. Neil (Bonny) Singer, sister Thelma Litt, brothers David Friedman and Rabbi Murray (Faige) Friedman, and grandchildren Mara, Evan, Leah, Jake and Jordan.

Services were held in Scottsdale on Wednesday March 12, 2003. Harriet was a life member of Hadassah. Contributions in her memory are suggested to Hadassah, Sabra Group, c/o A. Millman, 10547 E. Cochise Ave., Scottsdale, AZ 85258. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
