People on the moveBernard Shuer and Jack Pearlman were recently honored with awards from the Temple Beth Shalom Brotherhood. Shuer received the Chautauqua award in recognition of his program, "Fighting Prejudice - A Dialogue in City Schools," in which he travels to local schools to discuss discrimination. Pearlman received the Mensch award in recognition of his involvement in recruiting synagogue members to volunteer at the West Side Food Bank.Lewis Steven's Distinctive Concepts (LSDC) has promoted Chuck Newton to executive chef and Shelly Crosby to vice president of sales. Quality Inn/Sterling Suites of Scottsdale, located at 3131 N. Scottsdale Road, has been converted to a Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites. The hotel features 170 one-bedroom suites, a ballroom, boardroom, business center and heated outdoor pool. Andee Oleno has been named director of public relations for Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort and Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. Oleno, a 15-year veteran of the resorts, will oversee public relations activities. Carolyn Novicoff has joined Childhelp USA as chief operating officer. The Scottsdale-based organization serves abused children through fund development and strategic planning. Rabbi Sheldon Zimmerman has been named head of the United Jewish Communities' Renaissance and Renewal Pillar that has been created as a result of the organization's termination of the management deal with the Jewish Education Service of North America. Zimmerman is the former head of Birthright Israel and Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. |
