Obituaries

Ruth Bartak

Ruth Bartak of Phoenix died Jan. 7, 2003. She was 75. She was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona in 1959. She was a retired owner of Al-Bar Draperies and Carpets. She was a member of Temple Chai.

Survivors include her husband, Albert of Phoenix; her daughters, Bonnie Bartak and Linda Schotz, both of Phoenix, and Diana Lipkus of Westerville, Ohio; son, Joel Bartak of Phoenix; and six grandchildren.

Services were held at Phoenix Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association Memorial Program, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720; and Temple Chai Deutsch Family Shalom Center Fund, 4645 E. Marilyn Road, Phoenix 85032.



Dorothy Rosenfeld

Dorothy Rosenfeld of Scottsdale died Jan. 26, 2003. She was 73. She was born in Pittsburgh and moved to Arizona in 1983. She was a salesperson for Saks Fifth Avenue, Elizabeth Arden and Bridal Couture.

Survivors include her sons, Gary Rosenfeld of Phoenix; and Wayne Rosenfeld of Charlotte, N.C; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Arrangements were made by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W. Northern Ave., #A-100, Phoenix 85021.



Sophia Breverman

Sophia Breverman of Los Angeles died Jan. 24, 2003. She was 92. She was born in Gronow, Russia, and was a Phoenix resident from 1944-1998. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Beth El Congregation and Hadassah and helped found the Phoenix chapter of the Children's Asthma Research Institute and Hospital, now known as the National Jewish Hospital in Denver.

Survivors include her daughter, Fradya Rembaum of Los Angeles; son, Charles Breverman of East Brunswick, N.J.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Mount Sinai Memorial Parks in Hollywood Hills, Calif. Contributions are suggested to Beth El Congregation, 1118 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix 85021 or Hadassah, 7000 E. Shea Blvd., Suite 251, Scottsdale 85254.
