Deviled eggs and free pens greeted 2,200 visitors to the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center's Tradeshow 2003 on Jan. 12.
The expo, featuring 125 Jewish businesses and services in the Valley, was the VOSJCC's first tradeshow. According to Amy Petrovsky, event coordinator, the event was a success and plans for next year's show are already in the works.
"The community came together and it was wonderful," said Petrovsky, owner of Sensational Simchas, who donated her time to organize the event.
Mark Shore, president of the VOSJCC, said he was impressed with the turnout.
"I think it's an indication that people needed this JCC, this campus," he said. "They're responding and we're becoming the com-munity's living room."
Tradeshow vendors were also pleased with the success of the event.
Perry Buckman, a financial advisor at UBS PaineWebber, attended the event as a member of the Arizona Jewish Business Alliance, but said that next year he'd have his own booth.
"It was really fantastic," he said. "We'll absolutely do it again."
Marnie McNicholas of New York Life Insurance Company agreed.
"I do a lot of these (trade-shows) and I've never seen one run as friendly as Amy has done this," she said. "I really look forward to next year."
