People on the moveThe Raw Kaballah Committee has elected the 2003 Raw Kaballah Board to organize events for the upcoming year. Continuing positions include Jeffrey Frankel, Raw Kaballah administrator; and Rabbi Peter Levi, spiritual guide. Elected members are Zack Blumberg, president; Wendy Glass, vice president of treasuries; Debbie Blumberg, vice president of social entertainment; Ilissa Minkus, vice president of on-site logistics; Joel and Bethany Friendlander, vice presidents of public relations; and Jarrett Kern, technical administrative assistant.The Jewish National Fund has been selected to receive the 2002 Leaders of Distinction Gold Medal Achievement Award for Leadership from Saludos Hispanos. JNF received the award for reaching out to incorporate the Hispanic community into JNF's leadership. Prolane and Southern States Power Company will embark on a joint venture to build a biodiesel plant in the metro Phoenix area. The venture will create investment opportunities for those with a long-term interest in renewable, environmentally safe fuel. Arizona Children's Association recently hired two new staff members in the development department. Beth McCoy was named senior vice president of development and will oversee fund-raising efforts throughout the state. Yvette Johnson was named assistant director of development and will help to raise money in Maricopa County through special events and corporate partnerships. Rabbi Mitchell Cohen has been named national director of the Jewish Theological Seminary-affiliated Ramah camps. Cohen will replace Rabbi Sheldon Dorph on July 1. Mozzarella Fresca, Inc. has become kosher certified in response to customer requests. The California cheese company was also recently awarded a bronze medal in the World Cheese Awards for its mozzarella, mascarpone and ricotta cheeses. Visit www.italcheese.com. Jewish War Veterans Post #210 will donate copies of Walter Cronkite's video series "The Holocaust" to Scottsdale High Schools. The post also donated a motorized vehicle to transport visitors to and from the Arizona National Memorial Cemetery at 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. Copper Wynd Resort & Country Club donated $20,000 worth of merchandise to Jewish Family & Children's Service's People's Thrift Shop. Proceeds from the sale of the merchandise will benefit needy families and individuals. |
