ObituariesAlbert BursteinAlbert Burstein of Scottsdale died Dec. 28, 2002. He was 81. He was born in Philadelphia and moved to Arizona in 2000. He was a retired electrical engineer. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a first lieutenant in World War II.Survivors include his wife, Ethel; sons, Norman of Drexel Hill, Pa., and Ray of Scottsdale; sister, Renee Jasper of Bethesda, Md.; and one grandchild. Private services were held. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014. Eve LiebermanEve Lieberman of Scottsdale died Dec. 24, 2002. She was 76. She was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona in 1985. She was a homemaker.Survivors include her daughters, Linda Szabo and Gwynne Bindson, both of Scottsdale and Sindy Kirsch of Sacramento, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens, with Rabbi Barton Lee officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th St., Tempe 85282. Sheldon A. EngelSheldon A. Engel, born in Chicago, April 2, 1929, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2002, at his home in Phoenix. Shel is survived by his daughters Shari Bayomi and Stacy (Tom) Iveson, grandsons Nader and Jared, sisters Dr. Glorianne Engel and Dr. Annette Engel, former wife Sue Engel, and his stepchildren Carrie Clark, William Carter, and Michael Vaughn. His sister Rosalie Engel preceded him in death.After leading the junior ROTC at Harrison High School in Chicago, Shel moved to Phoenix in 1946. He became an Arizona media and marketing pioneer. Shel worked for The Arizona Times newspaper and created his own successful publication, Car Talk. He built KALF 1320 AM in Mesa, managed KXIV, and was the former state director of the Emergency Broadcast Network. Shel moved to Tucson in the early 1970's to manage KTKT 990 AM. His company, Engel Marketing, also produced University of Arizona football, basketball, and baseball broadcasts for the Wildcat Radio Network. Shel was recently nominated to become a member of the Arizona Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. Additionally, Shel enjoyed playing competitive contract bridge, he loved the Chicago Cubs, and he became a tremendous U of A Wildcat softball fan. Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 29th at Sinai Mortuary, with burial following at Temple Beth Israel Cemetery. Rabbi Albert Plotkin officiated.
