Elexa Erin Hammer, daughter of Lesley and Eli Hammer of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah Dec. 29, 2002, at Beth Joseph Congregation.

Grandparents are Sheila Schwartz of Phoenix; Susan Hammer of West Orange, N.J.; the late Alan Hammer; and the late Jess Schwartz.

Elexa attends Phoenix Hebrew Academy. Her hobbies include gymnastics, tennis and instant messaging with friends.

For her mitzvah project, Elexa collected clothing and toys for the Child Crisis Nursery.



Jason Ross Leach, son of Deborah Ross and John Leach of Phoenix, will become a bar mitzvah Dec. 28, 2002, at Temple Solel.

Grandparents are Shirley and Eric Ross of Denver; Darrell Leach of Scottsdale; and the late Marian Leach.

Jason attends Ingleside Middle School. His hobbies include reading, playing soccer and watching the Diamondbacks.

For his mitzvah project, Jason collected items for a food bank and Crisis Nursery and performed chores for the elderly.



David Ethan Shapiro, son of Deborah and Michael Shapiro of Paradise Valley, will become a bar mitzvah Dec. 28, 2002, at Har Zion Congregation.

Grandparents are Virginia and Phil Spergel of Anaheim, Calif.; and Lola and Jacob Shapiro of Paradise Valley.

David attends Cocopah Middle School. His hobbies include playing lacrosse.

For his mitzvah project, David coordinated a car wash and various activities to gather toys, diapers and supplies for the Phoenix Children's Hospital as part of the Brent Shernoff Toy Memorial Fund.
