Obituaries

Anne Plotkin

Anne Plotkin of Phoenix died Dec. 8, 2002. She was 86. She was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona in 1948. She was a homemaker and a member of Beth El Congregation.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin; daughters, Eileen and Eddy, both of Mesa; son, Morton of Brentwood, Tenn.; sisters, Lottie Berman of California and Shirley Brohner of Prescott; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Kivel Campus of Care, 3020 N. 36th St., Phoenix 85018.



Madeline Brooks

Madeline Brooks of Sun City West died Dec. 10. She was 84. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, and moved to Arizona from California in 1982. She was a retired owner and operator of a health food store.

Survivors include her daughters, Judy Metter of Los Angeles, and Beth Washuk of Tucson; son, Sidney Brooks of Glendale; sister, Bert Bortz of Reseda, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Services were held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, with Rabbi Leo Abrami officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Sun Health Hospice Foundation, c/o Hospice Care services, P.O. Box 2015, Sun City 85372.



Susan Beth Rosenberg

Susan Beth Rosenberg, age 39, of Tucson Died December 7, 2002. She is survived by her father, William H. Rosenberg of Tucson; sister Alayne (Bruce) Greenberg of Tucson, Debra Rosenberg of Phoenix, and Robyn (William) Mussler of Florida; and 13 nieces and nephews.

She was born and raised in Phoenix and graduated from Alhambra High Scvhool. She was a devoted employee of Perry Rehabilitation Center in Phoenix and the Beacon Foundation in Tucson.

Interment at Phoenix Memorial Park, Phoenix. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at Handmaker, 2221 N. Rosemont Ave., Tucson. Donations may be made to Beacon Foundation, 25 E. Drachman, Tucson, AZ 85705. Arrangements by Evergreen Mortuary & Cemetery.



Jack Golden

Jack Golden, age 86, passed away on December 10, 2002 in Phoenix. He moved to the Valley three years ago from his native New York City. In New York, Jack headed the firm of Designers 3, a commercial art studio, for over 50 years and was well-known for his graphic design talents and expertise on the history of printing.

He is survived by his loving wife Inez R. Golden; daughter Olivia (Jack) Cupp of Phoenix; son Ken (Debi) Golden of Marlborough, Mass.; grandchildren Roger Walter of Phoenix, Melissa Reece and Jared Golden, both of Richmond, Va.; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were held Sunday, December 15th in Phoenix Memorial Park. Contributions in his memory are suggested to Kivel Campus of Care, 3020 N. 36th St., Phoenix, AZ 85018. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary of Arizona.



Faye Cohen Wechsler

Faye Cohen Wechsler died of heart failure November 28, 2002, in Los Angeles. Born in 1912 and raised in Gloversville, N.Y., she met Henry Wechsler while working as a buyer in New York City. After marrying in 1937, they operated the Northville Cohen's Department Store and lived in Albany, N.Y. from 1942 to 1971. Active in the synagogue, Mrs. Wechsler owned and operated Fay's Variety Store and sold real estate prior to a career with N.Y. State. After retiring, Mr. and Mrs. Wechsler moved to Phoenix in 1971. Widowed in 1976, Mrs. Wechsler earned her B.A. from ASU at age 74, the oldest graduate in her class. She traveled in Europe and Israel. After meeting the Israeli Prime Minister's wife, Mrs. Begin, Mrs. Wechsler corresponded with her for several years. Mrs. Wechsler was a docent at the Phoenix Art Museum and was honored with a dinner as Woman of the Year of the Phoenix Hadassah chapters. Mrs. Wechsler is remembered for her oil paintings and three published books, including her autobiography. She is survived by a daughter, Andrea Winkler of Los Angeles, three nieces and a nephew.
