Obituaries

Jeanette Becker

Jeanette Becker, age 91, passed away Nov. 14, 2002 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born in Yonkers, N.Y. and moved to the Valley 17 years ago from Florida. She was a member of Temple Beth Israel and a life member of Hadassah.

Survivors include daughters Eleanor (Samuel) Barnett-Zaruches and Bette Mae (Lawrence) Epstein; and grandchildren Roni (Bob) Zeman, Howard (Chris) Epstein, Richard Barnett, Randy (Karen) Barnett, David (Diane) Barnett and Glen (Jessica) Barnett; and eight great grandchildren.

Private funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 15th in Phoenix. Contributions in her memory are requested to Kivel campus of Care Auxiliary, 3020 N. 36th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85018. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.



Joan Goldberg

Joan Goldberg, of Scottsdale, formerly of St. Louis, Mo., passed away November 15, 2002. She was the beloved wife of Joe Goldberg; dear mother and mother-in-law of Steven (Wendy) Goldberg and Jonathan (Julie) Goldberg of Phoenix; dear sister and sister-in-law of Sondra (Gerald) Kootman; dear grandmother of Benjamin, Daniel and Joshua Goldberg, Jaimie and Jodie Goldberg; our dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.

Graveside services were held Monday, November 18th at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery-White Road. Memorial contributions of your choice preferred. Berger Memorial Service.



Hortense Gottliebson

Hortense Gottliebson, beloved wife of Sidney Weiss and the late Mayo Gottliebson, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2002 in Phoenix. She was formerly of St. Louis, Mo.

She was the dear mother of James D. (Sally), Daniel R., Scott H. (Regina) and William M. (Renee) Gottliebson; loving grandmother of Maxwell, Meredith and Derrica; beloved sister of Marvin (Sandra) Schiffer; loving daughter of Sadie Schiffer; and dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend.

Graveside services were held November 18, at United Hebrew Cemetery, St. Louis. Contributions appreciated to American Heart Association or to a charity of your choice. Services by Rindskopf-Roth.



Naomi Ellman Vatz

Naomi Ellman Vatz, age 80, of Pittsburgh, Pa., passed away Sunday, November 17, 2002. Formerly of Pompano Beach, Fla., she was the beloved wife of the late Robert R. Vatz, devoted mother of Ben (Bonnie) Vatz of Phoenix and Melvin (Claire) Vatz of Pittsburgh. She was the loving grandmother of Lauren, Emily, Justin, David, and Allison Vatz; sister of Walter (Renie) Ellman of Pittsburgh, and of the late Bernice Bluestone. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, November 19 at Temple Emanuel, Pittsburgh, with interment at Star of David Cemetery, North Lauderdale, Fla.
