We buy SUVs for a variety of reasons

Editor:
In Rabbi Robert Kravitz's commentary ("Trading in SUV reduces guilt," Jewish News, Oct. 25), he wrote that "we all know that driving a big SUV is just about being cool." While I admire Rabbi Kravitz for admitting that the main reason he drove an SUV was for status and to "be cool," his premise is not shared by all of us. Many people do not buy a vehicle based on what other people think. We bought our SUV to accommodate our family needs and the activities we enjoy doing together. While his main point regarding oil is well-taken, I would ask that in the future he would express his opinions without assuming that everyone shares his opinion.
