Obituaries

Irving Pistiner

Irving Pistiner of Phoenix died Oct. 26, 2002. He was 80. He was born in Romania and moved to Arizona from New York in 1972. He was the owner of Fabrics Unlimited for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lotti; daughters, Mali Pistiner and Bathia Sirkin, both of Phoenix; son, Steven of Phoenix; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery, with Rabbi Moshe Tutnauer officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th St., Tempe 85282.



Adele Levinson

Adele Levinson of Phoenix died Oct. 22, 2002. She was 85. She was born in New York City and moved to Arizona in 1952. She was a retired social services administrator for 30 years for the Phoenix Jewish Community Center. She was a member of Beth Hebrew Congregation, Beth El Congregation and the Ladies auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans.

Survivors include her daughter Gerri Levine of Berkeley, Calif.; and sister, Ruth Goldberg of Phoenix.

Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery, with Rabbi Moshe Tutnauer officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Beth El Congregation, 1118 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix 85021.



Marcia Straus

Marcia Straus, age 72, passed away October 29, 2002 at home in Phoenix. She was born in Davenport, Iowa and moved to the Valley 57 years ago.

Marcia was not just another pretty face, co-owner of Leonard's Luggage and very active in the business for over 40 years. She was active in Temple Beth Israel, Sun Angels Foundation, Phoenix Boys and Girls Club, Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix, Anti-Defamation League, President's Club of ASU, Israel Bonds, National Conference of Christians and Jews, The 100 Club and many other philanthropic organizations.

Survivors include her husband Mal; son Bill; daughters-in-law Peggy and Sarah Straus; sisters Yoland (Phillip) Barkan and Shyrlie Jacobs; brother Irv (Annette) Pearlstein; and grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) Cohen, Charlie, Samantha and Joseph Straus. She was preceded in death by her son Robert E. "Coke" Straus.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 1, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Beth Israel in Scottsdale.
