B'nai Mitzvah

Tom Isaac Finkelstein, son of Sharon and Michael Finkelstein of Scottsdale, became a bar mitzvah July 4, 2002, atop Masada in Israel.

Grandparents are Clara Shinder of Phoenix, Elaine and Jack Finkelstein of California and the late Edward Shinder.

Tom attends Mountain Trails Middle School. His hobbies include USY, basketball, football and hanging out with friends.

For his mitzvah project, Tom traveled to several military bases in Israel to offer the Israeli soldiers support and encouragement from him and the entire United States teen community.



Karin Amy Finkelstein, daughter of Sharon and Michael Finkelstein of Scottsdale, became a bat mitzvah July 4, 2002, atop Masada in Israel.

Alexa Taylor Cohn, daughter of Amy and Andrew Cohn of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah Nov. 2, 2002, at Temple Solel.

Grandparents are Sandra and Marvin Rubin of Delray Beach, Fla.; and Sheila and Michael Cohn of Scottsdale.

Great-grandparents are Kate and Irwin Obstgarten of Naples, Fla.

Alexa attends Phoenix Country Day School.

Her hobbies are horseback riding and volleyball.

For her mitzvah project, Alexa raised money and served dinner to the families at the Ronald McDonald House.



Erika Munter, daughter of Jennifer and Andy Munter of Tempe, became a bat mitzvah Oct. 12, 2002, at Temple Beth Sholom.

Erika attends Aprende Middle School. Her hobbies include spending time with animals.

For her mitzvah project, Erika volunteered more than 50 hours of time at animal rescue organizations.



Erica Rose Mayer, daughter of Marla and Andrew Mayer of Phoenix, will become a bat mitzvah Nov. 2, 2002, at the Camelback Golf Club.

Grandparents are Elaine and Jerrold Weiss of Paradise Valley; Marsha and Frank Silverman and Murray Rulney, all of Tucson; Lila Mayer of Studio City, Calif.; and the late Ernest Mayer.

Great-grandparents are Evelyn Weiss of Cleveland; Leah and Herman Smiley and Gert Silverman, all of Tucson.

Erica attends Rancho Solano Private School. Her hobbies include softball, tennis and photography.

For her mitzvah project, Erica volunteered to be a "friendly phoner" for Beatitudes ViCaP program in which she spoke to an elderly woman a few times each week.
