Obituaries

Arthur Ansel

Arthur Ansel of Paradise Valley died Oct. 20, 2002. He was 82. He was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II, and was the owner of Art's Fisheries, an importer of shrimp. He was a member of Beth El Congregation for 50 years, a member of Jewish War Veterans Post #194, and a supporter of NA'AMAT.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Joy of Flagstaff; son, Steven of Phoenix; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth El Cemetery, with Rabbi Moshe Tutnauer and Rabbi Herbert Silberman officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Beth El Congregation, 1118 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix 85021.



Rose Lesk

Rose Lesk passed away at home on October 17, 2002 with her children at her side. She was 75. Rose was born in Pinsk, Poland, emigrated to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with her parents in 1927, and moved to Scottsdale in 1961.

Rose Lesk was an active member of the Jewish Community and served as past president and membership director of Har Zion Sisterhood, and was a member of Hadassah and Brandeis University Women's Committee. She was also a founding member of the Har Zion Yiddish Club.

She is survived by what she considered to be her greatest accomplishment in life - her four children: Sharon, Jeffrey, Brian, and Kevin; and by her granddaughters Emily and Hannah.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 18th at Sinai Mortuary with Rabbi Mark Bisman and Cantor Bernard Savitz officiating. Contributions are suggested to Har Zion Congregation, 6140 E. Thunderbird Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85254 or Brandeis University, 3343 N. 7th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85013.
