Movie Mondays

The Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center presents "Movie Mondays: Talking Pictures with Fred Linch" through March 2003. The next, held 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, is "Deconstructing Harry" by Woody Allen, at the VOSJCC, 12701 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale.

Linch has programmed for film festivals and lectured all over the Valley. He invites viewers to watch the film again as he makes his case for why it's one of Allen's masterworks.

Cost is $5 members, $8 nonmembers.

Jewish book club

The Ahwatukee Jewish Women's Book Club will hold its first book review meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. "Turbulent Souls," by Stephen Dubner, will be reviewed. Call for location.

International film festival

Now in its second year, the Scottsdale International Film Festival returns Oct. 25-31 with 21 full-length films from around the world.

Screenings will be held at the Harkins Camelview Luxury 5 Cinemas at 7001 E. Highland Ave., Scottsdale. They include features from the United Kingdom, Sweden, Iran, France, Tunisia, Japan, Morocco, Greece, Israel, Tanzania, the United States, Czechoslovakia and Hungary. Tickets range from $7-$12.
