The New Shul finds a home

The New Shul, a traditional-egalitarian congregation founded by Rabbi Michael Wasserman and wife Rabbi Elana Kanter in May, has signed a three-year lease for space in an office warehouse building at 14425 N. Scottsdale Road, Suites 100-200, Scottsdale.

The 3,100-square-foot space is currently under construction and they plan to move in later this month, said Wasserman.

A dedication weekend is being planned, but the date has not yet been confirmed.

About 200-250 people attended the congregation's High Holiday services, held at Embassy Suites in Paradise Valley. "Everything is going great, we're very excited," Wasserman said. Shabbat services have been held in private homes.

The term "traditional-egalitarian" means traditional liturgy will be used, and men and women will participate equally during Shabbat and holiday services.
