Film lecture series

"Movie Mondays - Talking Pictures with Fred Linch," a new film lecture series co-sponsored by the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center and the Phoenix Jewish Film Festival, starts 7-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus, 12701 N. Scottsdale Road, Scotts-dale.

The first topic is "It's Great, It Stinks: A Search for the Perfect Critical Theory." Cost is $5 members, $8 nonmembers.

Improv troupe

A new teen improvisational acting troupe comprised of 20 Valley teens will debut Monday, Sept. 30. The troupe is part of Curtain Call, the educational division of the Arizona Jewish Theatre Company.

Shows will be held the last Monday night of the month, from September through November, at the Playhouse on the Park inside the Viad Corporate Center, 1850 N. Central Ave., Phoenix.

Show times are at 7 p.m.
