Obituaries

Charlotte Menter

Charlotte Sandler Menter of West Roxbury, Mass., died Aug. 27, 2002. She was 89. She was born in Atlantic City, N.J. She was a life member of Hadassah.

Survivors include her daughters, Lois Zachary of Phoenix, Joyce Baron of McCoy, Fla., and Roberta Sacks of Wayland, Mass.; brother, Theodore Sandler of Oxnard, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Services were held at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel in Syracuse, N.Y. Arrangements were by Birnbaum Funeral Home. Contributions are suggested to Alzheimer's Association of CNY, Education and Training Fund, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.



Gordon Dorsch

Gordon Dorsch of Sun City died Sept. 2, 2002. He was 71. He was born in Allentown, Penn., and moved to Arizona from New Jersey in 1972. He was a retired bakery owner and master baker. He was a member of Beth Emeth Congregation of the West Valley.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; daughters, Susan Glickstein of New Berlin, Wis., and Lisa Goldman of San Diego; son, Gary of Phoenix; sisters, Shirley Godis and Beatrice Cheslov, both of Cranbury, N.J., and Ruth Rosenbloom of Baltimore; and four grandchildren.

Services were held in Rhode Island. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Beth Emeth Congregation, 13702 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West, 85375.



Ina Silverman

Ina Silverman of Phoenix died Sept. 2, 2002. She was 78. She was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona from Indiana in 1978. She was a retired public school bookkeeper and a professional softball pitcher.

Survivors include her daughter, Toby Schneider of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; son, Howard of Scottsdale; brother, Jordan Teplitz of Chicago; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel, with Rabbi William C. Berk officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.



Rose Meltzer

Rose Meltzer of Phoenix died Sept. 2, 2002. She was 97. She was born in Pittsburgh, Penn., and moved to Arizona from New York in 1979. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Lowy and Frances Shulman, both of Phoenix; son, Martin of Phoenix; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Kivel Care Center, 3020 N. 36th St., Phoenix 85018.



Beverly Goldsmith

Beverly P. Goldsmith of Scottsdale died Aug. 29, 2002. She was 70. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Arizona in 1974. She was a retired emergency operator with the City of Phoenix and a member of Har Zion Congregation.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; daughter, Beth Selinger of Pequot Lakes, Minn.; son, Robert Pinchawsky of Congress; sisters, Vivian Sherman of Merrick, N.Y., and Carol Blocksom of State College, Penn.; and three grandchildren.

Services were held at Green Acres Cemetery, with Rabbi Mark J. Bisman officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Arizona Kidney Foundation, 4203 E. Indian School Road, #140, Phoenix 85018; or Har Zion Congregation, 6140 E. Thunderbird Road, Scottsdale 85254.



Victoria Mayo

Victoria B. Mayo of Seattle died Aug. 26, 2002. She was 89. She was born in Seattle, and was a member of City of Hope and Congregation Ezra Bessaroth Sisterhood.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Israel of Fountain Hills; son, Richard of Phoenix and Portland; brothers, Albert Benaltabe of Mercer Island, Wash., and Daniel Ben of Bellevue, Wash.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the Sephardic Brotherhood Cemetery in Washington, with Rabbi William Greenberg officiating. Arrangements were by Seattle Jewish Chapel.
