Candidates offer views on state of state, nation

BARRY COHEN

E-Mail
One congressional candidate wants to lessen U.S. dependence on Middle Eastern oil by purchasing more from Latin America. Another suggests relieving drought conditions by converting seawater into drinking water. A third espouses Christian principles as standards to live by.

In anticipation of the Sept. 10 primary elections, Jewish News asked Arizona's gubernatorial candidates, as well as congressional candidates from Districts 2 through 6, four questions:
  1. Which issues would you advocate even if your position runs contrary to poll results or public opinion?

  2. Arizona is in a declared state of drought emergency. What policies would you advocate to respond to the current crisis?

  3. What distinguishes you from your competitors?

  4. What is the role of God in public life?
Last week's Jewish News presented responses from Arizona gubernatorial candidates and from U.S. congressional candidates in Districts 4 and 6. Following are the responses from congressional candidates from Districts 2, 3 and 5.
