Obituaries

Julia Strauss

Julia Strauss of Scottsdale died Aug. 18, 2002. She was 88. She was born in Baltimore and moved to Arizona from Ohio in 1985. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Temple Solel and Hadassah.

Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Kates and Janet Weingrad, both of Phoenix; sister, Lottie Dreyer of Cleveland; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Green Acres Chapel, with Rabbi Alan Berlin officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014; or Temple Solel, 6508 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley 85253.



Claire Sigel

Claire E. Sigel of Scottsdale died Aug. 17, 2002. She was 78. She was born in Thunder Bay, Canada, and moved to Arizona from Michigan in 1993. She was a retired jewelry supervisor.

Survivors include her sons, Ken of Scottsdale and Larry of Sterling Heights, Mich.; brother, Mendi Helper of Thunder Bay; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Diabetes Association, 8125 N. 23rd Ave., #222, Phoenix 85021.



Herman Rubin

Herman Rubin of Peoria died Aug. 20, 2002. He was 77. He was born in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to Arizona in 1972. He was a retired baker and pharmacy technician for Maricopa Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Tessie; daughter, Michelle Ackerman of Phoenix; son, Garry of Mesa; sister, Laura of New York City; brothers, Seymour and Ralph, both of New York City; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th St., Tempe 85282.



Solomon Radasky

Solomon Radasky of Overland Park, Kan., died Aug. 4, 2002. He was 92. He was born in Poland and moved to New Orleans in 1949. He was a resident of Scottsdale for three years. He was a Holocaust survivor and was active in survivor organizations. He was an honorary member of the Jewish War Veterans Association and a member of B'nai B'rith, Zionist Organization of America and Congregation A. A. Anshe Sfard in New Orleans.

Survivors include his son, David of Prairie Village, Kan.; daughter, Toby Kornreich of Paradise Valley; and four grandchildren.

Services were held in Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place, SW, Washington, D.C. 20024-2126; or Congregation A. A. Anshe Sfard, 2330 Catondelet St., New Orleans, LA 70130.



George Rosner

George Rosner, age 93, of Phoenix passed away August 15, 2002. He was born January 12, 1909 in Krakow, Poland. He was a Pianist-Composer and an active member of ASCAP. Survivors include his wife Laura, daughter Melanie Levin of Scottsdale, son Dr. Ronald Rosner of Grass Valley, Calif., son Glenn Rosner of Tucson, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren,

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 18, 2002 at Sinai Mortuary Chapel in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1028 E. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85006.
