Many kosher choices exist in Valley

Editor:
When my mother and I opened Cookies Amour in Phoenix, we decided to make it a kosher business. We contacted the Vaad Hakashruth before we bought any equipment or ingredients and welcomed any rabbi to inspect our kitchen at any time. In order to remain kosher we pay the Vaad a monthly fee; close by sundown on Friday and remain closed all day Saturday for Shabbat; remain closed the entire week of Passover, plus Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur and Sukkot. We do this not because we cannot find a non-Jewish person to be our partner, but because we want to be inclusive to our Jewish community.

It is rare when someone has the opportunity to follow the letter and the spirit of the law in business. Cookies Amour has yet to turn down a donation request for any Jewish nonprofit organization. We choose to support kosher businesses and support a local synagogue. There are many kosher choices. You just have to choose to shop there.
