People on the moveIlene Singer, previously of Temple Emanuel of South Hills in Pittsburgh, has been hired as executive director for Temple Chai. At Temple Emanuel in South Hills, Singer worked as director of the religious school, initiated programs and worked with the Cemetery Committee and the Endowment Foundation Board. Singer began her position at Temple Chai June 1.The Arizona Jewish Theatre Company has been selected as one of 14 American theater companies to receive $750,000 in grants from the Theatre Communications Group National Theatre Artist Residency Program and The Pew Charitable Trusts. The grants will fund the residency of actor, clown, translator and teacher Geoff Hoyle. His two-year residency will begin in the fall. The Council for Jews With Special Needs has become the most recent agency to house an endowment fund with the Jewish Community Foundation. The fund will eventually be used to provide programs and services to Jewish children and adults who have disabling conditions. The CJSN is also a partner in the statewide Leave-A-Legacy initiative. Scottsdale Athletic Club's Eurasia Bistro, located at 8225 E. Indian Bend Road, is now open to the public. The restaurant offers American and Asian cuisines made by Chef Ronald Baermann, a 38-year veteran of the food industry. The bistro also offers cooking classes, wine tastings and various events. Hours are 3-10 p.m. Mondays; 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays; and 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Sundays. Call 480-991-1571. |
