Obituaries

Richard Marks

Richard Leo Marks of Scottsdale died May 16, 2002. He was 82. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and moved to Arizona from Los Angeles eight years ago. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a furniture salesman for over 45 years. He was a member of Temple Beth Emeth of Scottsdale.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; sons, Donald and Stephen; daughter, Sharon Niles; and six grandchildren.

Services were held at National Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements were by Messinger Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Temple Beth Emeth of Scottsdale, 3295 N. Drinkwater Blvd., Scottsdale 85251.



Kenneth Castle

Kenneth M. Castle of Phoenix died May 19, 2002. He was 74. He was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona in 1978. He was a retired automobile salesman.

Survivors include his daughter, Teri Hamilton of Scottsdale; brother, Elmer of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Phoenix Memorial Park, with Rabbi David Pinkwasser officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Jewish Family and Children's Service, 2033 N. Seventh St., Phoenix 85006.



Arthur Schoenberg

Arthur K. Schoenberg of Los Angeles died May 17, 2002. He was 81. He was born in Atlantic City, N.J. He was a retired sales manager and served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II. At age 66, he became the oldest person to receive a heart transplant at that time.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; daughter, Marcie Lee of Tempe; sons, David of Tehachapi, Calif., and Edward of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Robert of Hollywood, Calif., and T. of Los Angeles; and seven grandchildren.

Services were held at Green Acres Chapel, with Rabbi Barton G. Lee officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Gift of the Heart, 100 UCLA Medical Plaza, Suite #600, Los Angeles 90095; or Hillel Jewish Student Center, 1012 S. Mill Ave., Tempe 85281.



Bernard Bloom

Bernard G. Bloom of Scottsdale died May 17, 2002. He was 89. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Arizona in 1989. He was a retired probation attorney and served in the U.S. Army in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Iris; sons, Steven of Gilbert, and Robert of Scottsdale; and two grandchildren.

Private services were held. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 5111 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale 85250; or Temple Chai, 4645 E. Marilyn Road, Phoenix 85032.
