Yiddish performance

The Har Zion Yiddish Club invites the community to celebrate Yiddishe mammas and tatehs (fathers) with a medley of Yiddish songs performed by vocalist Evelyn Renner 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at Har Zion Congregation, 6140 E. Thunderbird Road, Scottsdale. Cost is $3, refreshments will be served.

Tikkun Olam

The Ann Loeb Bronfman Gallery of the DC Jewish Community Center invites all artists residing in North America, ages 18 and older, working in any medium, to submit work for its next exhibit "Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World)."

Klezmer releases

Legacy Recordings has recently released three compact discs featuring landmark klezmer titles. "Tanz," a 1955 collaboration by clarinetist Dave Tarras and son-in-law Sam Musiker; "Abe Schwartz: The Klezmer King," featuring early performances by klezmer forefathers Tarras, Naftule Brandwein and Sam Beckerman; and "From Avenue A to the Great White Way: Yiddish & American Popular Songs 1914-1950," a 50-track double compact disc collection. The releases are in conjunction with National Public Radio's new ongoing documentary series "The Yiddish Radio Project," on "All Things Considered," which airs 3-6 p.m. Tuesdays on KJZZ-91.5.
