Bush's condemnation of Israel inappropriateEditor:As a member of the Hispanic community of Phoenix, and as an American, I want to tell you how appalled I am by the latest wave of terrorist acts against Israel. Contrary to President Bush's comments earlier this week, of course the Israelis are justified in invading the West Bank; that is the source of the terror. If these terrorist acts were perpetrated against the United States, we would not tolerate them. We should not expect the Israelis to tolerate them either. I fear that President Bush's comments actually reward terrorism and consequently encourage it. Please remember that the vast majority of Americans support Israel's right to existence and self defense. Stephen G. Montoya Phoenix Israelis should not tolerate terrorismEditor:Why should Prime Minister Ariel Sharon be forced to negotiate with a master terrorist like Yasser Arafat? This would be like having President Bush sit down and negotiate with Osama bin Laden. Sharon must continue the course and aggressively pursue terrorists within all of Israel's borders. I'm getting tired of seeing various groups of people throughout the world, especially right here in the United States, protesting the behavior of the Israelis. Not once have I heard any condemnation of the terrorist attacks against innocent civilians within Israel from any government or individual. Al Stein Phoenix
