Kol Ami celebrates 13th anniversary

Rabbi B. Charles Herring and his wife, Barbara, will mark Temple Kol Ami's 13th anniversary by celebrating a major milestone. The couple, who did not celebrate their b'nai mitzvot at the age of 12 and 13, will be called to the Torah and become b'nai mitzvah at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the temple, 15030 N. 64th St., Scottsdale.

Rabbi Leonard Thal, the first vice-president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations (UAHC), will speak during the service, as well as at services at 8 p.m., Friday, April 12, also at the temple.

The celebration will continue with a fund-raiser at 7 p.m. at the Scottsdale Hilton Hotel, 6333 N. Scottsdale Road. The event will include cocktails, a silent auction and raffle, dancing and the music of Marty Tams' Limelight Entertainment Orchestra.

Temple Kol Ami, which started with 53 families, now numbers about 344 households. Call 480-951-9660.
