Obituaries

Ruby Greenberg

Ruby Greenberg of Coronado, Calif., formerly of Paradise Valley, died Feb. 26, 2002. She was 81. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Arizona in 1950. She was a housewife and a designer.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Hughes of Glendale; son, Leslie of Phoenix; sister, Marilyn Matloff of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Private services were held. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix 85016; or Sharp Hospice Care, P.O. Box 3739, La Mesa, CA 91942.



Ben Rutman

Ben E. Rutman of Phoenix died March 16, 2002. He was 88. He was born in St. Paul, Minn., and moved to Arizona in 1969. He was a retired owner of a produce company.

Survivors include his wife, Leah; daughter, Helen Greenberg of Paradise Valley; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth Israel cemetery, with Rabbi B. Charles Herring officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary.

Contributions are suggested to Kivel Care Center, 3020 N. 36th St., Phoenix 85018.



Sondra Kay

Sondra Kay of Sun Lakes died March 15, 2002. She was 69. She was born in Philadelphia and moved to Arizona from Cherry Hill, N.J. She was a jewelrysmith. She was president of Temple Beth Sholom Sisterhood, and a member of American Women's Caucus for Art and American Craft Council.

Survivors include her daughters, Melissa Kay-Fleischer and Laura Kay, both of Columbia, Md., and Pamela Appelbaum of Hockessin, Del.; sons, Malcolm of Clementon, N.J., and Edward of Conshohocken, Penn.; sister, Iris Molotsky of Washington, D.C.; and one grandchild.

Services were held in Philadelphia. Arrangements were by Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Raphael-Sacks Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19103; or American Parkinson Disease Association, 6700 Eastwood St., Philadelphia, PA 19149.



Jules Kosloff

Jules Kosloff, lovingly known to his grandchildren as "Dede," passed away on March 19, 2002. Jules was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife of 26 years, Dorothy Raskin Kosloff.

One of four children born to Russian immigrants Sam and Alice, Jules was born in Chicago and later moved to Arizona by way of Hawaii, where he met Dorothy. Jules was preceded in death by his two brothers, Nate and Lou, and his sister, Mary. Survived by his beloved daughters Sharon (Bill) Bell, Stephanie (Sherman) Gardner and beloved son Sandy (Elizabeth) Kosloff; grandchildren Rick, Greg, Gina, Stacy, Kayla and Jason; and the Raskin family and friends.

Jules and Dorothy's dedication to community service and philanthropic endeavors was evident in every aspect of their lives, from their involvement in Kivel Campus of Care to the Devereux Foundation. To his family, extended family and friends, Jules was most of all a loving, thoughtful, and kind man who lived life with passion and spirit. He was a humorous, kind-hearted and generous man who was adored by all who knew him.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd. in Scottsdale on a day and time to be determined. We will miss him deeply and remember his impact on our lives daily.

Harry Fingerhut

Harry Fingerhut, age 93, passed away March 19, 2002 in Phoenix. He was born in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Phoenix 18 years ago from Toledo. He was a retired pharmacist. Survivors include his son Fred (Susi) Fingerhut, daughter-in-law Joan Fingerhut, sister Clara Sherman, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his late wife Esther and son Phillip. Funeral services and interment will be Friday, March 22 in Toledo. Contributions in his memory are requested to Council for Jews with Special Needs, 32 W. Coolidge St., #102, Phoenix, AZ 85013-2773. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
