Cornelis Hollander, local jewelry designer, received the 2002 Spectrum Award from the American Gem Trade Association in recognition for overall beauty, quality and technique of lapidary work and quality and rarity of gem material. Hollander has received the award nine times.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix board chairman Jamie Brody spends a moment with KNXV-TV's Robin Sewell during the organization's major annual fund-raiser. The event, "Today's Kids, Tomorrow's Stars featuring the Thunderbirds Youth of the Year," was presented by CIGNA HealthCare of Arizona March 2 at the Arizona Biltmore. The event also featured the crowning of the 2002 Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year.
