Obituaries

Betty Singer

Betty Singer of Mesa died Feb. 26, 2002. She was 89. She was born in Detroit and moved to Arizona in 1980. She was a homemaker and a member of Women's American ORT.

Survivors include her sons, Harvey of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Bobby of Indio, Calif.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens, with Rabbi Kenneth I. Segel officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hermelin Brain Tumor Center, Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Henry Ford Hospital, 2799 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit, MI 48202.



Milton Goldstein

Milton H. Goldstein of Fountain Hills died Feb. 25, 2002. He was 82. He was born in New York City and moved to Arizona from Florida. He was an accountant and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of B'nai B'rith, Jewish War Veterans and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; sons, Kenneth of Scottsdale and Steven of Seattle; and four grandchildren.

Services were held at National Memorial Cemetery, with Rabbi Ernie Michel officiating. Arrangements were by Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.



Michael Horewitch

Michael B. Horewitch of Phoenix died Feb. 21, 2002. He was 54. He was born in Chicago and moved to Arizona in 1970. He was an independent insurance agent. He was a founding member and past president of Temple Chai.

Survivors include his wife, Julie; daughter, Nessa of Charlottesville, Va.; son, Peter of Colorado Springs, Colo.; mother, Roz of Chandler; sister, Erna Liebobich of Chicago; and brothers, Ken of Chandler and Rick of San Francisco.

Services were held at Temple Chai, with Rabbi William C. Berk officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014; or American Heart Association, "For Research Only," 2929 S. 48th St., Tempe 85282.



Ethel Morrow

Ethel Anne Morrow of San Diego died Feb. 22, 2002. She was 74.

Services were held at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Green Acres Mortuary.



Harry Noodlman

Harry Noodlman, born in New Jersey 86 years ago, died at Sun Health Hospice on February 26, 2002. A resident of Sun City West, he moved to Arizona in 1987 from San Francisco, California. He was owner of an auto parts business in the Bay area.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. He is a member of Temple Beth Shalom and a Past President of Oneg Shabbat.

Survivors include nieces Dee Epstein and Barbara Paller of Phoenix; sister-in-law Eva Noodlman of Scottsdale and his lady friend Belle Siegel of Sun City West.

Graveside service will be Friday, March 1, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at Sunland Memorial Park (Garden of Prayer), 15826 Del Web Blvd., Sun City, Arizona.



Dr. David Pent

Dr. David Pent, age 72, passed away February 19, 2002 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born in New York City and moved to the Valley 42 years ago. He was an obstetrician and gynecologist. He was past president of the Maricopa County Medical Society, a consultant to the Arizona Board of Medical Examiners, founder and President of the Center for Continuing Professional Education, served on the staff of the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson, was past President of the Pacific Coast OBGYN Society, and had served with the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife Sherri Chessen; sons John (Tanya) Pent, Mark Atwell, and Dr. Steven (Sandra) Finkbine; daughters Nancy Hartman, Susan (James) Coury, Terri (Hal) Arnold, Tracy Atwell, Jody (Chris) Zarkos, and Kristin Atwell; cousins Ralph (Rhona) Kreutzer, Sidney (Elaine) Kreutzer, and Miriam Karlins; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sunday, February 24, 2002 in Sinai Mortuary Chapel. Contributions in his memory are requested to University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center, P.O. Box 245046, Tucson, AZ 85724.
