Klezmer tradition continues in Scottsdale

The Klezmer Conservatory Band performs at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts, 7380 E. Second St.

Klezmer music began in medieval Europe, where bands of itinerant Jewish musicians went from town to town playing for Jewish festivals and special events. In America, immigrant Jewish musicians adapted this music to the new rhythms and instruments they found, creating new klezmer forms.

Tickets are $30. Call 480-994-2787 or visit www.scottsdalearts.org.
