Obituaries

Marjorie Cantor

Marjorie A. Cantor of Phoenix died Jan. 24, 2002. She was 86. She was born in New York City and moved to Arizona from Ohio in 1956. She was a homemaker and a member of Temple Beth Israel.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn of Scottsdale; son, Jeffrey of Scottsdale; sister, Audrey Michaels of New York City; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery, with Rabbi Albert Plotkin officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Diabetes Association, 8125 N. 23rd Ave., #222, Phoenix 85021.



Murray Feinstein

Murray L. Feinstein of Scottsdale died Jan. 28, 2002. He was 86. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.

Services were held at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Green Acres Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014.



Gerald Flom

Gerald "Jerry" Edward Flom of Seal Beach, Calif., died Jan. 11, 2002. He was 55. He was born in London, Ontario, and moved to Arizona in 1962. He was chief operating officer of Apex Drum Co., Inc. He served in numerous positions on the board of directors of Temple Beth Emet in Anaheim, Calif., and served on the board of the Reusable Industrial Packaging Association.

Survivors include his wife, Sybil; sons, Noah of New Orleans; Joshua of Agura Hills, Calif., and Ezra of Seal Beach; sister, Jeannette of Paradise Valley; and brother Harold of Granada Hills, Calif.

Services were held in California. Arrangements were by Sandra Fine's Angeleno Valley Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Temple Beth Emet, Jerry Flom Memorial Fund, 1770 W. Cerritos Ave., Anaheim, CA 92804.



Milton Friedman

Milton Friedman, a longtime jeweler, died on January 14, 2002 in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the age of 79. An avid golfer, Mr. Friedman won the club championship at Lake Forest Country Club in Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University. After moving to Arizona in 1977, Mr. Friedman served as President of the Phoenix Jewish Community Center and was currently President of Mended Hearts #126. He was also a member of Ancala Country Club.

Surviving Mr. Friedman are his wife of 55 years, Harriet; sons, Barry of Valencia, California, and Kenneth of Cooper City, Florida; daughter, Ricki Weiss of Cleveland, Ohio; ten grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and brother, Arnold.

A memorial service will be held at Chaparral Suites, 5001 N. Scottsdale Rd. at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2002. Contributions may be made to the Milton Friedman Memorial Fund of Mended Hearts #126. Please send to Gus Littlefield, 10650 Indian Wells Drive, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268.



Frances Kirschenbaum

Frances Kirschenbaum, age 81, formerly of Coconut Creek, Florida, passed away in Scottsdale on January 23, 2002. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and was a bookkeeper.

She is survived by two sons, Bob (Ellen) of Phoenix and Dr. Dan of Chicago, Illinois; and five grandchildren, Amy, Scott, Alex, Max and Rosie.

Services were held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85016; or Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center, 9494 E. Becker Lane, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 2 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 3 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Kirschenbaum residence.



Shirley P. Kronenberg

Shirley P. Kronenberg, age 75, passed away January 19, 2002. She was born February 13, 1926, in Bronx, New York. She graduated NYU in 1948, married her college sweetheart Allen, raised their five children in New Jersey and New York and moved to the Phoenix area with her family in 1970. She worked for the Arizona State laboratory, was an avid mah jong player, and enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her four sons, Robert (Jeanne), Michael (Sheryl), Bruce (Gretchen), David (Sandra); and her daughter Barbara (Larry) Londo. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grand-child. Memorial donations may be made in Shirley's name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.



Mae Noble

Mae Noble, age 93, passed away on January 13, 2002. She moved to Phoenix in 1971 from Philadelphia. Mae is survived by two children, Dr. Alan and Korin Granett; four grandchildren, Lora Granett, Steven Granett, Rhoda (Granett) and Nick Ricci; and three great-grandchildren, Heidi Granett, Matt Ricci and Nikole Granett.

Mae was a fourth generation life member of Hadassah, a member of City of Hope, B'nai B'rith and Pioneer Women, and received the "Volunteer of the Month" award on several occasions from the Phoenix Jewish Community Center.

Graveside services were held at Paradise Memorial Gardens with Cantor Andrew Mayer officiating. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.



Julius Vitoff

Julius Vitoff of Phoenix died Jan. 26, 2002. He was 74. He was born in St. Paul, Minn., and moved to Arizona from California in 1963. He was a court reporter for over 40 years and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Survivors include his companion, Jane Gordon; daughters, Lisa Vitoff and Melinda Vollner, both of Phoenix, and Deidre Watt of Anchorage, Ala.; sons, Matthew of Phoenix and Anthony of Grants Pass, Ore.; sister, Rosalin Chester of Pomona, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services were held at Sinai Mortuary Chapel, with Rabbi Steven Chester officiating. Arrangements were by Sinai Mortuary. Contributions are suggested to Elana Hadassah, 7000 E. Shea Blvd., Suite #250, Scottsdale 85254; or Thomas J. Pappas School Foundation, 4500 N. 32nd St., Phoenix 85018.
