Jewish classes available in Spring

The Jewish Studies Institute of The Bureau of Jewish Education of Greater Phoenix, in a cooperative effort with Temple Emanuel, Temple Solel, Temple Beth Sholom and the Tri-City Jewish Community Center, will offer spring semester 2002 classes focusing on Jewish traditions, lifecycles and events. Classes will be held 7-9:10 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 4-April 1, at Temple Solel, 6805 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley; and 7-9:10 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 7-March 21, at Temple Emanuel, 5801 S. Rural Road, Tempe.

Classes include: "Introduction to Judaism," "Ceremonial Arts Class," "Torah Study," "Psalms," "The Whole Megillah," "Hebrew Reading I and II," "Conversational Hebrew for Beginners," "Advanced Conversational Hebrew," "Islam and the Koran: A Force for Our Time," "Modernity and the Fracturing of Judaism," "Israel and the Middle East: Will Israel Survive," "Arizona Jewish Community Chorale" and "Medicine and Jewish Law."

Classes are $50. Senior and student discounts, as well as discounts for multiple classes, are available.
