Jewish mothers

An opening reception for "Jewish Mothers: Strength, Wisdom, Compassion" will take place 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Sylvia Plotkin Judaica Museum at Temple Beth Israel, 10460 N. 56th St., Scottsdale.

The documentary photography exhibit, with photographs by Lloyd Wolf and essays by Paula Wolfson, runs through March 8 and captures the rich diversity of America's Jewish mothers along with their compelling personal stories. Fourteen of Arizona's Jewish mothers will be honored.

Those nominated include Ella Adler, Shirley Brohner, Vicki Cabot, Evelyn Feffer, Rebecca Hornstein, Patricia Kader, Rabbi Bonnie Koppell, Helen Kriegsfeld, Risa Mallin, Bonnie Morris, Beryl Morton, Mercedes Roussel and Rana Schwartz.
